Licensing

The RFRK uses the new Next Limit License Manager. The License Manager stores and manages all your RFRK licenses. It also shows your license information and which machines are using the licenses.

Licensing FAQs

Q: How many licenses do I need?
A: The RFRK is licensed per machine, rather than per core/CPU. You should purchase one license for each machine you are intending to use for rendering. For information on prices, please click here.

Q: Is the software downloadable, or will I be sent a physical product?
A: The RFRK is download-only. When you purchase the RFRK, you will be sent a license text in an email, together with the download instructions.

Q: How can I add a new license?
A: Select "New License" in the File menu. In the dialog box, copy in the license information as text or select a license.txt file that contains the licensing information. This information is stored internally by the License Manager, and will be kept in the system for the future.  Please note: You should also keep all your license information and files in another location as a backup.

Q: How many License Managers can I have running in the network?
A: There must only be one "License Manager" running in the network. When you launch the application it will automatically start managing license petitions with the stored licenses in the system. If another License Manager has been running in the network, it will close automatically if you open a new License Manager and show an error message.

Q: My License Manager client cannot get a license and the License Manager is running.
A: You must run the License Manager in the same sub-network (or machine) in which the client is located. If it continues to fail, check that you don't have all your licenses already in use (which will be shown in the window).

Q: The License Manager shows a machine is using a license but the machine is switched off.
A: If the machine didn't finish the work, or disconnected in any way, you will need to restart "License Manager" to free that license.

Q: I have loaded my license file into the License Manager in Windows Vista, but I still can't render.
A: You need to deactivate the User Account Control in Windows Vista.

Q: I get the error "Invalid license"
A: Make sure your license.txt .dat or the text you are pasting in the license windows dialogue is formatted in this way:
